Just finished this piece, it's for my nephew Connor. (good thing no one actually checks this out, it might ruin the surprise) I sure hopes he likes tigers as much as I do. Every time I paint orange pieces I have the hardest time with the paint. I just don't get it. Or understand why I keep putting myself through the anguish of painting things orange.

here's more stuff. work i did for a project a-z guide for parenting and i stole an incredible hulk silly band from my nephew in january and a british lady broke it and my heart one night at work, i told my aunt and uncle, and my nephew wrote me this letter and put these spiderman stickers on the envelope. so i painted him a letter in return.

i read Chuck's blog on thursday and was completely bummed. Kazu Sano one of my many favorite teachers passed away. I consider myself blessed to have gotten to take a class from him. to have seen his originals in absolutely stunning glory. i would reach class super early and ask him about his week, how he was feeling, what projects he was working on, how agents worked anything i could. i was lucky that i was a bigger guy, and not in a hurry to leave class right after and countless times got to carry his works to his car and get a ride up to market st. He was an amazing person, that went out of his way to help us all. thank you Chuck for letting me take his class. his impact has and will always have a resounding resonance. r.i.p. Kazu...

I got the book A Sketchy Past art of Peter de Seve book the other day his work is so amazing. I was blown away with his artwork and was trying to figure out what kind of paper or surface he paints on because you cant really see the texture of the watercolor paper like i see in my stuff. So I was experimenting with some new types of surfaces. This was done on watercolor illustration board.

Last week I bought a crab net, it makes it easier to pull fish up onto the pier instead of walking them all the way around to shore. I also decided that since I have the net I might as well crab too! Last week I got 2 keepers while I fished. Took them home and ate them today I just got a big one and here it is!

I bought my first fishing rod/reel combo today! I usually go fishing with my buddy Frankie, and we're supposed to go tomorrow. But I felt the urge today so I went down to the local bait shop and the nice lady Stephanie hooked me up. Now I'm just chilling on the pier throwing squid to the crabs. And painting. You be suprised how well water color painting and fishing go hand and hand. Patience, patience, patience...

One of the coolest days of my life. It started in S.F. With Josh Hamilton jokingly muggin me at the bart station. It was Kristy's birthday, we had tickets in the fourth row behind home plate. For my Honors Portfolio class with Kazu Sano we were given a handout with 3 songs and a poem and asked to illustrate it. i chose the Poe poem and this is it. watercolor and gouache.

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,

I was a child and she was a child,

Giants Magazine Contest!

One of my class assignments for Kazu Sano's Honors Portfolio class is to do a magazine cover of a famous person. But we could if we wanted tried to do a spot illustration for a contest for the San Francisco Giants magazine, a portrait of Giants majority owner Bill Neukom. So I chose that assignment. This is a gift for my favorite neighborhood bar here in San Francisco. A couple of years ago i was in there and i did a sketch of a asian dude riding a vespa with a scorpion decal with a hot chick on the back holding one of their trademark drinks the scorpion bowl it's a rum concoction that hits you like a scorpions sting. I gave that sketch to the bartender and they framed it and hung it on the wall. the next time i went in the bartender showed me the drawing hanging up and told me nothings been hung up on the walls since the 80's. since then i've developed quite a friendship with all the people who work there and wanted to do a painting for them. should give it to them in the next couple of days.

wow about a year since last post gonna use this site more. this is the final for my illustration 2 class with matt faulkner. we had to redesign a tarot card 10x14 in watercolor. starting at 8:30 am and ending at 2 pm. we were competing for prizes and i won runner up with my friend susan to my buddy wythe. i loved doing this crunch time sort of illustration, it pretty much mimics my actual procrastination methods of study.

one of my best friends growing up passed away last week, we were co-captains on our hockey team growing up in oregon. justin was one of those rare indivduals that while always trying to be the center of attention, also lite up the room like a roman candle. he was in a boat while taking a day off in the peace corps working in africa, and was electrocuted, or at least thats what i picked up while trying to search on the net. if you get a chance check out his blog website www.justinbrady.net and click on the videos, he did a mtv cribs inspired one that is just hilarious, he was a great friend and will always be close to my heart, and missed greatly .-n8

another page, the last two first classes of the week for me today... went out to my car acrossed the street from my house and the rear passenger side window was bashed in. lame... then on top of that. the only things i have of value in there are my golf clubs, that werent taken, if they would have looked around they woould have seen the ipod- radio trip thingy, or my checkbook was in the center console, or change in the ashtray, or registration in the glove box... all left alone. now don't get me wrong i'm grateful, it's just lame...thanks... and um oh nate, - welcome to the city...

sorry i've been so super busy with school, work and trying to slack when i can, school is great/so much fun... it's a pretty awesome feeling to get to go to school to draw. it pretty much amps me up to get up at 5:20 in the morning, and helps me get through till about 8:30 when i get home. my first class is analysis of form, which is sort of a run of the mill basic drawing class, you know, still lifes, drapery studies, vine charcoal..ugh.. but my teach is so awesome and he definatly makes going to class worth it. the other night we went to his gallery opening, it was very sweet. if you get a chance check out his art at www.davidchoonglee.com, its well worth a look... -n8 gee

well it's official- i'm officially enrolled in both summer and fall classes at the Academy of Art in S.F.- if i haven't seen you recently, i got a 75% scholarship for the summer classes with the portfolio grant program that they offer!!! so anyway i'm super excited and nervous, this is a long time coming, and highly anticipated.. and the final step in the beginning of the rest of my life, which seems to be getting more and more exciting with each passing day... a special thanks to everyone who has been there for me and supported me - luv nait jee

sometimes i get inspiration from areas such as common everyday life, my disturbed thought process, my wierd compulsive collection of magazines, a trip to the comic-con, seeing friends art, yet sometimes.. i like to dig into my crappy old sketchbooks, and re draw the charaters the way i would draw them now ( taking into account that i have grown, no matter how minute.. and taking a vain thought process that iam a better artist now) you see i saved just about every drawing i've done since i was around 14 years old... this is one of the pieces that i saw that inspired me to redraw these charaters, i will post the re-vamps. -click the pic for a larger view- i'm not totally sure how old this drawing is, i would probably assume it's about2-4 years old...** online stuff that inspires me, check out the links on the right...
