Just Finished!

so i just finished a double page spread of the intro scene of hiedi. for the SCBWI Tomie dePaola award. The winners are announced Jan 3rd wish me luck!

Just heading to work all dressed up. Not gonna lie its kinda akward being the only person dressed up out of the 50 on the bus, the one perk is no one wants to sit next to me.

Last week I bought a crab net, it makes it easier to pull fish up onto the pier instead of walking them all the way around to shore. I also decided that since I have the net I might as well crab too! Last week I got 2 keepers while I fished. Took them home and ate them today I just got a big one and here it is!

This is the painting I did while fishing today. Did it with my little travel kit. I has me catching a Leopard Shark. I've caught 4 so far. It was a little wishful thinking. But I did catch a Bat Ray! Now I'm heading off to work.

Gone Fishin'

I bought my first fishing rod/reel combo today! I usually go fishing with my buddy Frankie, and we're supposed to go tomorrow. But I felt the urge today so I went down to the local bait shop and the nice lady Stephanie hooked me up. Now I'm just chilling on the pier throwing squid to the crabs. And painting. You be suprised how well water color painting and fishing go hand and hand. Patience, patience, patience...

One of the coolest days of my life. It started in S.F. With Josh Hamilton jokingly muggin me at the bart station. It was Kristy's birthday, we had tickets in the fourth row behind home plate. I got to go on the field and the dugout. Wow words don't decribe how cool it was. Ricky sat behind us and I met Daric Barton and Randy Coutoure!

just did these for an advertising student at my school its for a energy drink ad campaign. they didn't turn out to bad for the limited time.

it's taken a while...

it has, i look at where i came from and i never in my wildest dreams thought i would get to see this day in my life. it has taken a long winding path for me to get here. i have all my family and friends to thank ( anyone who is close knows you're family to me as well). for their support and enthusiasm. my life is much like a sponge that i take in so much of all the many friends/family feelings and best wishes. i did this for me. but mostly i did it for you. you are the reason i never missed a class and pushed myself with little too no sleep as not to let any of you down. i love you all, and thank you for all your support- luv n8gee

My 5 yr old nephew Bryce asked me last month to make a painting of him in a rocket ship, i told him i would when i was done with school. and here we are 2 weeks left 3 till graduation. it's been a long tiring journey. thanks for all of you for helping me and being understanding along the way. I did this piece tonight at my local pub Tradr Sams, it's just a rough sketch that he will totally dig as a painting!

For my Honors Portfolio class with Kazu Sano we were given a handout with 3 songs and a poem and asked to illustrate it. i chose the Poe poem and this is it. watercolor and gouache.


It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,

Giants Magazine Contest!

One of my class assignments for Kazu Sano's Honors Portfolio class is to do a magazine cover of a famous person. But we could if we wanted tried to do a spot illustration for a contest for the San Francisco Giants magazine, a portrait of Giants majority owner Bill Neukom. So I chose that assignment. Just finished the painting around 2:30 am and here it is. I kinda wanted to do a charicture and give a shout out to the big head shirts of the late 80's of sports stars, mixed with the children's books style of my work. Hope you dig!...

This is a gift for my favorite neighborhood bar here in San Francisco. A couple of years ago i was in there and i did a sketch of a asian dude riding a vespa with a scorpion decal with a hot chick on the back holding one of their trademark drinks the scorpion bowl it's a rum concoction that hits you like a scorpions sting. I gave that sketch to the bartender and they framed it and hung it on the wall. the next time i went in the bartender showed me the drawing hanging up and told me nothings been hung up on the walls since the 80's. since then i've developed quite a friendship with all the people who work there and wanted to do a painting for them. should give it to them in the next couple of days.
